Broad menu for both food and drinks, usually pretty quick, this is one of my favorites. And in walking distance from the Cathedral! The Copper Kettle Pub fare menu made from locally sourced food. Vinny Vanucchi's Little Italy Dubuque Italian fare, a little pricey but generally good. Bonus: My favorite Irish Pub is found in the basement! Pete's Thai Great food, large portions. Bonus: go early and take a nice walk down Bee Branch Creek! Dubuque Mining Company A Dubuque classic, affordable, quick. I like the chicken sandwiches! |

Italian restaurant founded and run by real Italians. You've never had anything like their panzerotti (A deep fried calzone) Shot Tower Inn If you are looking for pizza, this is your spot! Magoos: If you prefer personal pan pizza this is your spot. |

Smithsonian National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium
For anyone who's lived along the river you may ask what's more to learn, a lot! Tickets: Adults ($20), Kids: ($16) Eagle Point Park Beautiful overlooks from the bluffs of Dubuque. Look north and you'll hardly believe you're in Iowa. Entry ($1 per car). Bonus: walk the river below at A.Y. Macdonald Park, get right next to the roller dam and see why they call it Eagle Point! Creative Adventure Lab Great for Kids, Pottery, legos, rock climbing, giant building blocks and more! What's not to love for kids here? There's even a toddler area! If you have little ones, this is a must stop. Entry: Adults (free), Kids: ($10 OR FREE on Sundays). 4th Street Elevator Fun quick family activity, this is the shortest steepest elevator in America. It will take you up the bluff for beautiful views. Bonus: if you're downtown already, check out some of the shops and food! |
The Field of Dreams:
About 25 minutes west of Dubuque you can see the field of dreams. Be warned: there is a tournament there this weekend. Bonus: Stop and see the beautiful Basilica of St. Francis Xavier in Dyersville. Dubuque Farmers Market Visit the oldest market in Iowa on Saturday Morning. Tons of food and fun: My recommendations 1) Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters' Cinnamon Bread 2) West Dubuque Tap's Magic Muffin. Mines of Spain State Park Beautiful bluffs overlook the Mississippi with limestone gorges you can't believe! I recommend the Horseshoe Bluff Route, or the visiting the Julien Dubuque Monument. Dubuque Arboretum and Botanical Gardens Beautiful gardens worth walking through! If you like flowers this is a great place to get new garden ideas. |

Local place, just down the street from the Cathedral. Seven Hills Brewery Local brewery in the Millwork District Jubeck New World Brewing Small brewing co-op. Usually fun things on tap Textile Brewing Company Brewery in Dyersville, about a 30 minute trip west on HWY 20 Potosi Brewing Founded in 1852, this brewery has a ton of history and is located in the scenic hills and valleys of the driftless. Just a 20 minute trip into Wisconsin. |
