Broad menu for both food and drinks, usually pretty quick, this is one of my favorites. And in walking distance from the Cathedral!

The Copper Kettle

Vinny Vanucchi's Little Italy
Dubuque Italian fare, a little pricey but generally good. Bonus: My favorite Irish Pub is found in the basement!

Great food, large portions. Bonus: go early and take a nice walk down Bee Branch Creek!

Dubuque Mining Company
A Dubuque classic, affordable, quick. I like the chicken sandwiches!

If you prefer personal pan pizza this is your spot.

Activities

Smithsonian National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium
For anyone who's lived along the river you may ask what's more to learn, a lot! Tickets: Adults ($20), Kids: ($16)

Eagle Point Park
Beautiful overlooks from the bluffs of Dubuque. Look north and you'll hardly believe you're in Iowa. Entry ($1 per car). Bonus: walk the river below at A.Y. Macdonald Park, get right next to the roller dam and see why they call it Eagle Point!

Creative Adventure Lab
Great for Kids, Pottery, legos, rock climbing, giant building blocks and more! What's not to love for kids here? There's even a toddler area! If you have little ones, this is a must stop. Entry: Adults (free), Kids: ($10 OR FREE on Sundays).

4th Street Elevator
Fun quick family activity, this is the shortest steepest elevator in America. It will take you up the bluff for beautiful views. Bonus: if you're downtown already, check out some of the shops and food!
The Field of Dreams:
About 25 minutes west of Dubuque you can see the field of dreams. Be warned: there is a tournament there this weekend. Bonus: Stop and see the beautiful Basilica of St. Francis Xavier in Dyersville.

Dubuque Farmers Market
Visit the oldest market in Iowa on Saturday Morning. Tons of food and fun: My recommendations 1) Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters' Cinnamon Bread 2) West Dubuque Tap's Magic Muffin.

Mines of Spain State Park
Beautiful bluffs overlook the Mississippi with limestone gorges you can't believe! I recommend the Horseshoe Bluff Route, or the visiting the Julien Dubuque Monument.
